Systems Integrator Partners with Subaru and DMS Providers to Enable VIN Inquiry Functionality

With the plethora of information dealers need to keep track of, workers often find themselves having to toggle back and forth across multiple applications. This is time-consuming, often requires redundant data entry and is prone to human error. More dealerships are finding they can reduce errors and save on administrative time by combining applications onto one screen. New selling channels and end-to-end integration of the sales process, from the earliest lead through to financing the sale, present opportunities for system integrators to enable a more seamless experience for end customers, who have higher expectations today.

Systems integration provider Motive Retail, LLC recently announced a new integration offering with Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) to enable U.S. dealership management system (DMS) providers to offer their dealership customers real-time access to Subaru vehicle and service history information right from within their DMS. Motive Retail provides system integration solutions to manufacturers, dealer systems and value-added software providers

The VIN-specific information gives Subaru retailers immediate access to vehicle specifications, recall information, warranty claims summary information, Subaru Equity Shield (SES) and Subaru Added Security (SAS) coverages, port installed accessories, Subaru production flexibility, and vehicle telematics data without having to leave their DMS. Dealers using the newly integrated feature by DMS providers will be better able to offer timely delivery of important data to serve customers. The need to switch back and forth between application screens is reduced or eliminated.

According to Motive Retail, a total of nine DMS providers will develop the VIN inquiry functionality, while two DMS providers – PBS Systems and DealerBuilt – have completed the certification process. DealerBuilt launched their pilot location earlier this week, and PBS will launch their pilot location later this month.

“Subaru is constantly looking for ways to make their retailers as efficient and profitable as possible,” said Subaru of America Director of Information Technology, Amy Sgrignoli, in a statement. “We are very pleased to respond to the needs of our retailers in a timely manner in collaboration with Motive Retail.”
